Recharging Your Batteries (2022)

Presented By Megan Manels-Murphy, MSc

This presentation is heavily influenced by the second module of the Burnout Recovery Program, an intervention developed to help mitigate burnout for health care professionals. The program was created through the fusion of insights from evidence-based tools in the field of clinical psychology (i.e., the ACT Matrix) and principles derived from well-validated work-stress models in industrial-organizational psychology. This module introduces the concept of recharging your battery, a practical approach designed to aid in decreasing burnout, minimizing stress, and shifting your perspective to move toward your values. Specifically, it will help you identify useful activities that allow you to recharge your mental battery and encourage you to change your mindset to prioritize these behaviours. The concepts addressed, though applicable to a large audience, offer enough flexibility for you to tailor the practices to your values and needs, as well as consider a personal plan of action moving forward. Ultimately, these skills should help you rediscover the joy in your work (or in your life as a whole).
