Supporting informed, shared decision-making is a critical aspect of managing children who have hearing loss. This can be challenging when the available evidence to support clear management recommendations is under development, as is the case with unilateral hearing loss in children. This presentation explores the current clinical management parameters for young children who have permanent unilateral hearing loss. A case study highlights the available clinical procedures and those that require further development. The importance of counseling families of children who have unilateral hearing loss in the context of habilitation is also discussed.
